Our Sustainability & Social Value Strategy

Our Sustainability & Social Value (SSV) Strategy sets the direction for CEF to achieve our core business goal to be a leader in our sector, and a force for good, with a focus on people, planet and communities.

Building towards better business

Impact Timeline

2020

We achieved Planet Mark Certification, reporting our first carbon footprint through the platform.

2022

We started using EcoVadis to monitor and evaluate the social and environmental performance of our supplier partners, and to support them in making improvements to their own sustainability practices.

We were awarded the EcoVadis Bronze Medal for our sustainability efforts, putting us in the top 50% of 130,000+ companies assessed globally.

2023

We achieved silver membership of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, a collaborative initiative that provides free sustainability skills development and training to suppliers in the built environment industry.

We retained our status as a Gold Member of Constructionline, the highest level awarded by the UK's leading procurement and supply chain management scheme.

We were awarded an EcoVadis silver medal, putting us in the top 25% of companies assessed.

Funded mental health training for 10,000 apprentices with the EIC

Working towards net-zero by 2040

Raised over £800,000 for Macmillan since 2017

Partnered with key suppliers on EcoVadis sustainability assessments and goals

Awarded an EcoVadis Silver Medal, putting us in the top 15% of companies assessed

Advanced greenhouse gas emissions reporting, aligning with ISO Standards

In 2022, we started to develop our Sustainability & Social Value Strategy and began laying the initial foundations. The following year, we continued to invest in the people, expertise and resources required to develop our capabilities and impact. We are excited about rising to the challenges that lie ahead and accelerating the strategy together.
